SoftSeven has its beginnings in 1969 when Dr. McCurry was in seventh grade. It was his job to teach his younger sisters their times tables using flash cards when they were in the third grade.

Dr. McCurry was born West Texas town of Midland. His father worked for Amoco and the family moved to Houston and later Tulsa as he was growing up.
